For Market Day, members can bring items to sell – fiber related, food, plants, etc.  Non-members may also bring items, but need to pay a $20 fee to the guild.

January

Saturday January 9th, 10:00am – 4:00pm: Black Sheep Handspinners Guild Roc Day, All Saints Church, 346 Ridge Rd, Lansing, NY

The event will include workshops along with the usual raffle, spinning circle, demonstrations, a dish-to-pass lunch and a few local vendors.

Saturday January 16th, 10:00am – 2:00pm: Roc Day Celebration

For the Pot-Luck Lunch, bring a dish to pass and your table setting. Decorate your wheel to win a prize.


February

Saturday February 20th, 10:00am – 2:00pm: Open Spin

Bring your spinning, knitting, crocheting, etc for a relaxing time of crafting and conversation.


March

Saturday March 20th, 10:00am – 2:00pm: Annual Guild Auction

Each member is asked to contribute at least two items which can be yarn, fiber, knitting, spinning and weaving books, eggs, plants, fiber equipment, basically things that are spinning, knitting and weaving-related.  Bring your cash or checkbook to join in the fun.  Plan on arriving early in order to display your donations and get a good view of all the items prior to the start of the auction. 


April

Come support the guild’s annual CNY Fiber Frolic.

Saturday April 24th, 9:00am – 4:00pm: Connecticut Sheep and Wool Festival, North Haven CT

Saturday/Sunday April TBD: Washington County Fiber Tour

Farms are open both days 10 -4 (unless noted otherwise). Visit alpacas, bunnies, goats, sheep and lambs, llamas, and more – on the farm; and meet the farmers and their families.


May

Saturday May 1st, 10:00am – 4:00pm: Syracuse Maker Faire Syracuse, NY

Maker Faire is a gathering of fascinating, curious people who enjoy learning and who love sharing what they can do. From engineers to artists to scientists to crafters, Maker Faire is a venue for these “makers” to show hobbies, experiments, projects. The guild demonstrates spinning and provides drop spindle kits for attendees to try their hand at spinning and to take home.


Saturday/Sunday May 1st-2nd: Maryland Sheep and Wool Festival, West Friendship, MD

One of the largest festivals of its kind celebrating all things sheep, from hoof to handwoven.


Saturday May 8th, 10:00am – 4:00pm: Shepherds Wool Market, Rush, NY

Saturday/Sunday May 8-9th: New Hampshire Sheep and Wool Festival, Deerfield, NH

Saturday May 15th, 10:00am – 2:00pm: Open Spin

Saturday/Sunday May 17-18th: Central Pennsylvania Fiber Festival, Hughesville, PA

June

Saturday/Sunday June 5-6th: CNY Fiber Arts Festival, Herkimer County Fairgrounds, Frankfort, NY

Guild members are welcomed to demonstrate spinning with other fiber artists.


Saturday June 19th, 10:00am – 2:00pm: Guild Picnic
